  • Condition: This beautiful wax head doll with blue sleep eyes is in very nice condition for her age. Her sleep eyes close simply with gravity as she lays down and they reopen as she sits up or stands. The hand painted upper and lower eye lashes and hand painted lips have faded with age but are still visible. I do not believe that the clothes are original. This beautiful doll was wearing all clothing items shown in the photos when she was purchased by mother approximately 50 years ago. The clothes are a little dingy with age but in very good shape (the clothes are included in the price).

    This beautiful ~21″ tall Wax Head doll has lovely long brown hair.  She has beautiful
    blue glass eyes
    that close (sleep eyes) when she lays down and reopen when she sits up or stands.  She has an exquisite face.  Her wig  appears to be made from human hair.  She is in very good condition for her age, particularly as her head and shoulders are wax.
    This doll was part of my mother’s private antique doll collection and she has resided in our doll cabinet in our smoke free home for over 50 years.  She was already an antique when acquired and was dressed in exactly the same clothing that she is wearing today.
    This beautiful doll has hand painted eye brows, upper and lower lashes and lips.  Please note that the eyelash paint and lip paint have faded over the years.  There is a nail in either side of her head, presumably to hold the sleep eye mechanism.  The wax head is in beautiful condition.  I noted minor raised areas on both sides of her temple, just to the right and left of her eyes as shown in the photos.
    Her forearms and hands appear to made of some sort of composite material and no defects were noted.  The remainder of her body is fabric as shown in the photos.
    The clothing is at least 50 years and is included in the price.  Other than laundering her clothing by hand, she has been untouched since she joined my mother’s doll collection.  No doll stand is included in the price.
    Regrettably, I am not able to identify with certainty the name of the manufacturer or the country of origin as the wax head has no markings.  It is possible that she is of German origin as the majority of my mother’s antique dolls were of German origin.
